Privacy Policy
Effective date: August 5, 2026
Who operates this site
This policy describes information handling on unicorntapestries.com. The independent educational website is published by Tapestry Australia, part of GR Joinery (ABN 80 663 876 271), Australia. In this policy, “we”, “us”, and “our” refer to that publisher.
Our compliance approach
We aim to handle personal information consistently with the Australian Privacy Principles (APPs) under the Privacy Act 1988 (Cth), to the extent they apply to us, regardless of whether the site’s turnover meets the statutory threshold for mandatory application. Where an obligation does not strictly apply to us by law, we may still choose to follow it as a matter of good practice; this statement does not itself expand our legal obligations beyond what applicable law requires.
Information provided directly
Visitors do not need to create an account. If you email us, we receive the information in your message, including your email address and any information you choose to include. We use it to respond, investigate a correction or rights request, maintain an appropriate record of the correspondence, and meet legal obligations. Do not send sensitive personal information that is not necessary for your enquiry.
If we use an AI or automated drafting tool to help prepare a reply, we take reasonable care not to input more of your personal information into that tool than is necessary to prepare the response, and such a tool is used only to assist drafting, not to build a profile of you or to make automated decisions about your enquiry.
Cloudflare hosting, delivery, and security
The site uses Cloudflare services for hosting, content delivery, performance, and security. Cloudflare may process technical request information such as IP address, browser and device data, request URLs, timestamps, network identifiers, and security logs to provide and protect its services. This processing occurs on Cloudflare infrastructure and is governed by Cloudflare’s applicable terms and privacy practices. Read Cloudflare’s Privacy Policy.
Google Analytics
The site uses Google Analytics to understand aggregate use, including pages viewed, approximate location, device and browser category, referral information, and movement between pages. Google may receive technical identifiers and usage information when its scripts load. We use aggregate reports to maintain and improve the site, not to identify visitors by name.
Google AdSense and advertising
The site may use Google AdSense. Google and its advertising partners may process technical data and use cookies or similar technologies to deliver and measure advertising, prevent fraud, limit repetition, and, where permitted and consented to, personalise advertising. Google explains its use of information from participating sites at How Google uses information from sites or apps that use its services.
Google’s systems select and deliver advertisements. We do not understand, access, or control every technical signal used by those systems and do not pre-approve each advertisement, advertiser, destination, or automated selection decision. An advertisement is not our endorsement. Concerns about a specific advertisement should be reported using Google’s ad controls and may also be sent to us with the page, approximate time, and a screenshot where possible.
Where consent is required, the site sends consent signals intended to prevent non-essential advertising or analytics storage before the required choice has been made. You can manage Google advertising personalisation through Google Ads Settings and control cookies through your browser. Blocking storage may affect advertising and measurement.
Third-party consent and cookie controls
Where a Google or other third-party consent-management banner is displayed, that provider supplies the interface and technology used to collect, store, and transmit consent choices. The site relies on the signals reported by that system and does not independently inspect the provider’s underlying technology or every resulting data flow. The provider’s own privacy terms apply to processing it performs for its independent purposes.
We configure third-party tools in good faith and respond to known problems, but cannot guarantee that an independent banner or consent system will always display, record, transmit, or honour a choice without error. To the maximum extent permitted by law, the publisher and contributors are not responsible for failures or independent data handling by a consent provider outside the publisher’s reasonable control. This does not exclude obligations that applicable law places on the site operator and does not prevent you from exercising rights directly with the provider.
Independent service providers
Cloudflare, Google, email providers, AI and automated content-assistance tools used for research or editorial drafting, linked museums, and other external services are independent organisations operating their own systems. Depending on the service and applicable law, a provider may process information on our instructions or for its own stated purposes. We select established providers and configure services in good faith, but we do not control their infrastructure, staff, security decisions, policy changes, or independent data handling.
To the maximum extent permitted by law, the publisher and individual contributors are not liable for an independent provider’s outage, security incident, policy breach, or act or omission outside the publisher’s reasonable control. This does not limit responsibilities or rights that applicable law does not allow us to exclude. Questions about a provider’s own processing should also be directed to that provider using the contact and rights procedures in its privacy policy.
External links
Articles link to museums, repositories, and other websites. Following an external link subjects you to that website’s terms, cookies, security, and privacy practices. We are not responsible for the privacy practices or content of independent websites.
Data sales and account profiling
We do not sell a visitor list, require user profiles, or operate visitor accounts. Advertising and analytics providers may perform their own processing as described in their policies and according to the consent choices and legal rules that apply to them.
International processing
Cloudflare, Google, and other providers operate internationally. Technical and usage information may therefore be processed in countries other than your own, subject to the safeguards and terms described by the relevant provider.
Retention and security
We retain direct correspondence only as long as reasonably needed to answer it, handle related correction or rights issues, maintain necessary records, or comply with law. Third-party providers set their own retention periods. No internet service can promise absolute security, but reasonable care is used when selecting and configuring services.
Your choices and rights
Depending on your location and the applicable law, you may have rights to request access to, correction of, or deletion of personal information we hold about you, or to object to or restrict certain processing. For information held independently by Cloudflare, Google, or another provider, you may also need to exercise your rights directly with that organisation.
Children
The site is a general educational resource and does not knowingly request personal information from children. A parent or guardian who believes a child has sent unnecessary personal information may contact us to request review and appropriate deletion.
Limitation of liability
To the maximum extent permitted by law, our liability arising from a privacy-related incident is limited to taking reasonable steps to correct the issue and, where required by law, notifying affected individuals and the relevant regulator. We exclude liability for indirect or consequential loss connected with a privacy incident, to the extent the law allows us to do so. Nothing in this policy excludes, restricts, or modifies a right or remedy that cannot lawfully be excluded or limited. This policy is governed by the same governing law and jurisdiction set out in our Terms and Disclaimer.
Contact and changes
For privacy questions, email contact@unicorntapestries.com. We may update this policy when site practices, providers, or legal obligations change. The effective date above identifies the current version. The Terms and Disclaimer explain the site’s broader informational and third-party-service limitations.
